3 weeks after SBCC launched the Revitalize Not Militarize campaign, families and local groups in New Mexico, Arizona, Texas and San Diego have created nearly 150 panels for The Border Quilt project. Inspired by the AIDS Quilt, the individual 2′ x 4′ panels reflect each group’s experience with loss of family, loss of privacy, loss of civil rights, loss of humanity, loss of personal safety,  loss of human life because of border militarization. Through the quilt, families are telling their own personal stories and hopes for revitalization versus militarization in the border region.

A manual has been created for all that are interested in participating and can be downloaded here.
